People have different definitions of vacation. To me vacation means having absolutely no agenda, nothing to do and no one to impress. Lake Como and the small villages surrounding it is the exact vacation spot i'm talking about. The only touristy thing to do there is eat as much pizza and drink as much Prosecco as you physically can. Wake up whenever you want, stroll to breakfast, stroll to lunch, dinner, gelato.. and it is one of the most picturesque places I have been. Lake Como also has a special place in my heart because I have been going there every summer with my family since I was in boarding school in Switzerland. It was only about an hour drive from my school and my parents and I considered it our safe heaven and our second home. Every time we go back we stay in an Airbnb in different little towns along lake Como so we can really live like a local. I dream of this place and year after year I have the same enthusiasm to go back.
Food: Il Gatto Nero, Harry's Bar. Honestly you can't go wrong with any restauraunt here.
Nightlife: There isn't much nightlife here, drink wine with every meal. Go to bed early.
Things to do: Rent a boat and explore all the towns on the lake, go to Belaggio and climb all the steps to the top of the town.
